Education

Pharmaceutical medicine is a specialized medical discipline dedicated to the research, development, regulation, and monitoring of new medicines and health technologies. It bridges the gap between laboratory drug discovery and clinical practice, ensuring therapies are safe, ethical, and effective.

Professionals in this field—often called pharmaceutical physicians—typically transition from direct patient care to working within the pharmaceutical industry, contract research organizations (CROs), or regulatory authorities.

Key areas of focus within pharmaceutical medicine include:

  • Drug Discovery & Development: Translating laboratory discoveries into safe, viable drug candidates through preclinical and early human trials.
  • Clinical Research: Designing, conducting, and overseeing human clinical trials under strict ethical and scientific guidelines.
  • Regulatory Affairs: Managing the complex process of registering new medicines and securing legal approval from government health agencies.
  • Pharmacovigilance & Drug Safety: Monitoring the ongoing safety, side effects, and efficacy of drugs once they reach the general clinical market.
  • Medical Affairs: Serving as the clinical experts who educate healthcare providers on the appropriate and effective use of new pharmaceuticals

US CTS would like to announce meeting with graduate medical students and young doctors, having purpose to introduce the pathways to become a pharmaceutical physician or Clinical Research Associate (CRA).
